Default GT Performance??

Hi, guys I am looking into the V6 mustangs now after killing my 96. My insurance is higher now than it was for the GT but I gotta have a stang so, I want to know What all can be done to the V6's? I am looking at the 99-04 models. I heard something about the 04's being faster, is that true? And what can the stock bottom end, tranny, and rear hold up to or are they the same as gt's(rear&tranny). What is the best way to get say.....250-300rwhp?
Thanks a lot.

2004 - 193 HP, 225 torque
1999 - 2003 - 190 HP, 220 Torque

Not a noticeable difference, your call. You can pick up a 99 - 02 for cheap and do basically the same mods as you would to an 04, except you start with a 4,000 - 6,000 advantage.

The 04's were up to 3.9L. I would get an 03 or older 3.8. Most of the aftermarket parts are for 3.8s and IDK if many work on the 3.9.

the 2004s have the 3.9 engine, which is the same thing as the 3.8. its just a leftover engine they used from the windstar. and an easy way to get that much hp is probably supercharging it. 3.8s can handle a lotta boost.

the stock rear end should be able to hold 300 rwhp or so. but if you go near 400 you may wanna consider a new rear end.

Well it seems to me like the V6's have the upper hand because you can't really get any power out of the GT's without FI and the Horsepower limits on stock components are about the same. Thanks guys I am looking forward to the 3.8 now.

you can't get much power out of any pre-05 stang without F/I really. the 05+ respond very well to boltons though.
