4R70W

it esenntially an AODE just a wide ratio AODE that's what the W stands for

anything 96 and up shift kit will work

i suggest Trans Go. it's the best designed commercially produced kit out there

The shift kit makes you tranny hold out longer between shifts and gives a MUCH firmer shift (similar to that of a manual powershift) by replacing the stock transmission components (such as springs) with thicker, higher resitsance parts and also redirecting fluid fow.

it firms shifts and reduces slipage, but the tranny already shifts near the redline so it does nothing for that

Sometimes mine holds a touch longer than what I would want it to, just an oddity I noticed after I got my kit.

My budget for modding right now is almost up. After the gears and tlok go in next week, I'll have to start saving again. My car will have the basics installed at this time... MAC CAI, ASP U/D pulleys, FRPP 4.10s & T-Lok, exhaust with H pipe and Flowmaster 40's, SCT performance tune. Should I look into the Transgo kit before phase 2? Which would be exterior mods.

That shift kit is going to make a huge difference. Because its an auto, I would say it should be one of the first mods.

My kit cost $60 CDN and the install was $300 CDN at a trusted race shop.

Would I have to get my car retuned? August 25th it goes in for gears/tlok/tune, but it's all I have money for. So even if I did have the kit, I'd have to wait a bit. Besides, I never heard of it til today.
