Default ANOTHER exhaust thread!

Yes, yes, I know - this is the 6 millionth exhaust thread posted within the last hour, and yes, I've read all of them. However, none of them really answers what I'm wondering: What is the best TD exhaust for a 6-er with respect to performance, when money is absolutely no object?

I know that getting a TD is not primarily a performance upgrade, but I'm not so interested in sound that I'm willing to sacrifice performance, if you know what I mean... And if I have to pay a couple of hundred dollars more for a real quality exhaust - so be it.

So, thoughts, tips, flames?

A Borla or Bassani setup will outlive your car, and probably you.

I had true duels run off the stock cats back to flowmaster 40's then piped back 2.25 pipe until the last foot or so then 2.5 its pretty good not extrely loud but somewhat deep for a v6

my was $390 at exhaust pro

Best sound for a sixer (no money worries) JBA headers (don't do squat for performance, but does allow for an ever so slightly better sound), off road x pipe (h pipe will be louder, but you asked for the best sound not the loudest, oh neither improves performance over the other as the V6 is an even fire engine) GT Borla catbacks, or Magnaflow catbacks are about the best you're gonna get. Oh, look for about a 3-5 rwhp gain, yea I know, whoo hooo, but the sound is more than worth it, and hey, you'll need TD for any major future mods.

http://www.dropshots.com/spencer88 - H pipe and force flow mufflers (flow knock offs)

http://h1.ripway.com/03YellowPony/S4300181.WAV harveys X pipe and flows

personally i would go with flows with your choice of X or H, listen to more clips

Thanks guys, great help so far, just one question:

What you're all saying, from what I understand, is that the Borla catbacks that are actually made for a 6er ain't worth it, as those would force me to keep my stock Y-pipe, right?

I tried finding the dimensions for the 6er and the GT exhausts from Borla, but couldn't find them anywhere. I'm just worried that if I order the GT exhausts I'll end up with overdimensioned pipes that'll suck more power from the system than it gives back. Kinda ruins the point, I'd say...

Oh, and I'm way more interested in good performance than good sound - even though I know it won't amount to a world of difference...
