Default Filter for intake

Do all filters fit all intakes?
I wanted to purchase a cold air intake and I have the money now (160ish) but I am now thinking of just buying a cheap one on ebay from some weird brand for 50 dollars and changing the the filter to: http://www.teamjdm.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=109 and I was wondering how it would work out (any ideas?).
Does the tubing for the intake make a big difference and do all filters for intakes fit? Or is there some filter size i have to watch out for?

Personally I always use K&N filters. But other people may have other opinions.

But I say K&N ALL THE WAY!!!

Well you could save up a few more dollars, and get yourself this kit. Has everything your gunna need. It's not as shiney as some of the others, but K&N is a good brand, and they don't make crap.

Now I have heard it said that this place has poor customer service, but I have not personally delt with them yet.

My personal opinion would be to buy a CAI from ebay with a K&N filter. It'll save you money and its only like 1HP difference.

The reason I suggested the K&N Full Kit is that it sounds as if he had to save up what money he has to get one, so I was thinking that the K&N one is a fool proof set up, where as the Ebay kits sometimes don't work out and end up being a waste of money instead of an actual savings.

Any chance that K&N kit from http://www.rpmoutlet.com/newv6knn.htm can work on a 98 3.8L?
