Any chance that K&N kit from http://www.rpmoutlet.com/newv6knn.htm can work on a 98 3.8L?
Thats another question I have. How do you know wether or not it will work? Whats the difference for one thats made to a 98 3.8L and a 2004 3.8L? Is it the tubing thats different? or is it the filter?

It's the Tubing thats different. The 98 3.8 is a different engine then the 04 3.9.

My personal opinion would be to buy a CAI from ebay with a K&N filter. It'll save you money and its only like 1HP difference.
The reason I suggested the K&N Full Kit is that it sounds as if he had to save up what money he has to get one, so I was thinking that the K&N one is a fool proof set up, where as the Ebay kits sometimes don't work out and end up being a waste of money instead of an actual savings.

Just my .02
Why spend $125 extra dollars on tubing that may give you 1HP more. If you use ebay right and know what you're doing, you can save money.

I've come to the conclusion of getting a tube that fits and putting an K&N filter on the end of it. Sounds good right? lol

I totally understand the different engine sizes. But I don't see why a tube can't work on a 99 and 98. they are both 3.8L's. Is the size of the intake different? or can a tube that hooks up to a 99 fit to a 98 also?
