2002 Mustang
I just got a 2002 mustang V6, and yes, it's an automatic. I know, 5-speed would be a lot faster but whatever. Well I want to try to pick it up a little bit. After looking around I think I am going to get a new exhaust (preferrably flowmaster), new headers (no brand in mind), and a cold air intake (A.E.M. if available). Any advice would be very appreciated on where I should get these from, what I should get in particular? Theres gotta be someone out there who has upgraded their V6?I have researched but I can't get a definite answer.
get an aftermarket torque convertor, a shift kit, some new gears, a CAI, and some underdrive pulleys. Headers won't do much, Get true dual exhaust, either cut the y pipe or get some gt takeoffs.I perfer the 40 series flowmasters, but everyone has their own opinion. Check e-bay, there are always great deals on parts. If you can afford it get a new cam, get the intakes ported and polished, some 4.2l p&p heads, pistons and crankshaft. All of this should get you as much power out of your car without adding a supercharger of turbo. You'll also want to get a fordchip to recalibrate your new gears to the speedo. Also get an aluminum driveshaft. instead of the 4.2l parts you could just get your 3.8l heads ported and polished.
hey i have a 02 v6 and its an automatic as well. i got the stock GT exhaust for $115 from a company in california. instead of getting cold air intake, take off your intake pickup (rubber piece that connects to the intake box) and get a k&n filter. the exhaust is 15-20 hp and its cheap and the intake is about 10-15 hp and is cheap as well. good luck.
