And less hp usually equals better mpg....a better selling point

v6 is aimed more at the poor and young mustang enthusiasts.
Yea pretty much. Also the majority of Mustang buyers arent looking for huge HP. People who mod their mustangs and race them are a small % of the total sales. Everything done has been to make everyone happy, not too high and not too low HP for a good price with decent MPG.

I think you're talking about the sn95 mustangs, the sn95 edge GTs and V6s had no problems hangine with their Z-28 and Camaro V6 counterparts. Point is the Camaro costed more, don't care what you say, but doesn't look as good, interior or exterior as a stang, and had a few more mechanical issues that made the stang the much better buy.
haha no, a 3800 bird/maro is game for an NPI GT if the guy can drive

the V6 is a base engine because Ford Heritage has roots with V8 development back in 1932. it has always been one of their milestones. if ford would have turbo'd the 3.8 back in the 80's the 5.0 would have faded into obselence and the Buick GN would not have the cult status that it enjoys today. for didn't want to out compete it's own V8 with a V6 of a better design.

when the SN 95 was being developed ford had a testmule car with a T-bird SC engine in it. it beat the 5.0 in every performance test. Ford still banked all of it's marketing on the V8.

it's a shame that so many uneducated people out there thinks a V8 is superior to anything else and sounds ricey if it doesn't sound like a V8.

the 3.8 essex is probably one of the greatest engines that never was

Open question I know, but what was done to the 3.8 to castrate it, in terms of performance?

So would this explain why Buicks turbo V6 never made it into the Camaro and instead GM lowered the performance of the 3800 to give glory to the almighty V8? Sounds like Ford and GM were in the same game to protect the V8.
