hey guys im thinking about getting a muffler shop to just hack off the y pipe and bolt up sum flowmaster 40s wit turn downs right before the axle. does this have any performance advantages. i have a 00 3.8. how will it sound?

right now i have a single muffler after the y-pipe w/ a turn down. it sounds pretty damn nice but the drone can be bad inside the car because the exhaust exits right under you. ususally around 2k rps is when it gets kinda annoying....it honesltly doesnt annoy me but it bugs the crap outa my girlfriend. hotrods had dual exhuast w/ turn downs...i almost never see him anymore but you could ask him. he told me that it was really loud and he ended up taking them off becuase it bugged him.

instead of Flowmaster mufflers get Force Proseries mufflers from www.summitracing.com they are under $35/muffler and IMO sound better than Flow 40's

2.25" muffler part# FRC-5201
2.5" Muffler part# FRC-5202

direct link for FRC-5202

If there is less pipe for the air to run through, shouldn't that increase performance a bit?
