Cost to install a new underdrive pully

RE: Cost to install a new underdrive pully
I got a quick question. When me and my friends installed my UDPs we had the issue of the crankshaft rotating. I heard the only two solutions to stop the crank from rotating was to remove the starter or use an impact wrench. Removing the starter whould have been too mcuh work so we jammed a crowbar in to jam the pulley so the crank would not turn and we could loosen the bolt. It worked but its not a smart idea. So I want to know do you have to remove the starter to stop the cranks rotation? And would using a impact wrench loose up the crank bolt without turning the crank? I need to know b/c in the future I plan to swap the pulleys back to stock for an SC.
