I was told The Service Engine Soon light meant time for oil change or tune up, how tru is that???
Your car MIGHT have 2 different lights for the engine, 1 says Check Engine the other says Service engine. If the check engine light is on that means that one or more of your electronic components under the hood is bad/unplugged, or not functioning properly. IF the SERVICE light is on (usually has a little wrench next to it), that is a maintenance minder. That one tells you that you need an oil change or whatever.

PS: I thought that the newer fords didnt need tuneups till 100,000?
Oh... thats why the check engine light is on in my car... My blinkers dont work by themselves i have to hold them in place... makes sense...
No, thats not why the check engine light is on. The check engine light ONLY monitors underhood items, such as O2 sensors, MAP sensors, knock sensors, throttle position sensor, etc.etc. It has NOTHING to do with your interior items.
What you need for your turn signal anyway is a dimmer switch. As for your CEL (check engine light), go to autozone, theyll scan it for you for free.

For the record my SERVICE ENGINE SOON light is on, NOT the CHECK ENGINE light.
So basically its somethin minor.
Not necessarily on yours either, if I were you Id have it checked anyway. Maybe your down 2.5 quarts of oil, (very bad for the engine), or you could be low on trans fluid, (also VERY bad for a transmission), etc.etc.

Whats involved in this scan? what do i have to do inorder to get them to "scan" or w/e for the problem with my turn signals? Because i bought a new flasher and that didnt work... or do they just scan for engine problems?

IF your turn signal wont "lock" into position, you need the switch in the steering column. Its called a DIMMER SWITCH. As for them scanning your car, all you have to do is go there, they have a hand held scanner that they plug into your car under the steering wheel, and it connects to the comp. in the car and reads the stored codes. Thats all thats involved with scanning it. Then the guy will tell you something like 'your O2 sensor in bank 1 is bad' , then, in your case, buy a O2 sensor and have a shop install it.
