Default Tuner

Im thinking about buying a tuner again. My 6er is a 2000 with 75k miles. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to slap a programmer on her? I dont want any problems with my car in the future. I dont need any heads to leak or gaskets leaking either. What are your opinions on this?
