i like those power packs. They are pretty cheap and can add up to 80 hp. not bad. That alone will blow a stock GT away, and adding a supercharger.... that GT wont know what hit it.

I think you should upgrade to the GT... but because you're so young, I can understand staying with the 6 for insurance reasons.

I would definitely suggest doing ALL the necessary research before going with a power adder like turbo or supercharger. There are basic mods you should do first which will allow you to keep saving for the power adders later and will give you some small gains now. Plus, its good to have things like exhaust, gears, some suspension upgrades... etc before working heavily on the engine. We get so many people who come on that JUST buy their stang and want to add a supercharger-- most people don't understand that you really need to do your research first... so... that's just my advice.
+1 way to put it Rachel. There are a lot of people that want to throw s/c on there car right away, my friend hasnt even gotten his stang yet and is already talking about it but he has no clue how much is involved in it.

Well, if it were my car, I'd spend some money on some nice rims and tires (not for power, but hey, a fast car should have some sweet rims eventually) and for peformance start with: exhaust/CAI to get the engine to breathe, and gears/tlok (get ya off the line faster and stop the dreaded one wheel spin or whatever) and some UD pulleys to slow down your accessories a little bit and give you just a smidge more power. I think those are pretty good for starts. But, thats just what I would do to get it going.

CAI = Cold air intake and U/D pulleys = Underdrive Pulleys. Thats just to clarify some things up for you. Cai wont add much hp wise maybe 1-4 hp but will increase throttle response and exhaust is about the same hp gains but will add some torque in the highend but you will loose some in the lowend. When it comes to gears, gears will get you off the line faster and get you into the powerband quicker, basically it puts the power to the floor quicker. if your going to heavily modify the car **** the t lok go with a detroit true trac as there is no clutch to wear and it is much stronger then the t lok. Your car right now has an open diffrential meaning the power goes to your back right tire, so if you do a burnout only your back right tire spins, if you get a detroit true trac or a tlok it gets rid of the open diff and you will now have a lsd or limited slip diff. Now you will spin both back tires. U/d pullies will add about 8 horses. If it where me and you really want to make this sixer fast and gt is out of the question id go with gears , a detroit tru trac, S/C and a powerpack H/C/I .

LOL, it's like my post.

Here goes a run down of the math. Let's see how rusty I am.

My car was on the lot for $12,000. I got the car for $10,000. My parents help put up $5,000 in which I don't have to pay them back. So the car is costing me $5,000 over 3 years. But I plan to pay it off asap.

I already have the basic bolt ons done. That cost roughly $1,900. So I've got to figure my car for what it is now essentialy cost me $6,900. For a 2002 with power everything, leather, and 37k miles isn't bad at all. The car was bought from a great family friend, so I know the car came from a good previous owner, otherwise he wouldn't have sold it to me.

Now to make a jump to a GT. Because I've already moded the 6, my resale drops. Lets be generous and say I get $7,000. I "make" $2,000, but because of the mods at $1,900 it's pretty much an even wash. Which also means that $7,000 from $10,000 leaves $3,000 "wasted" from my parents pocket. Why because I haven't had the car 3 months, it's like the spent it for nothing if I do a trade in. Anyways... This would leave me with $6,000 out of my pocket again. Just when I'm out of monthly payments, I'm back in.

To get those same mods on the GT, I'd probably be looking at $2,200, because the GT parts are slightly more expensive. $13,000 + $2,200 = $15,200 for a GT with the bolt ons all over again. For my 6, it's still $6,900. Round it to $7,000 to match the trade in. The upgrade is cost is $8,200. Not to mention taxes, and fees.

This Mustang is a daily driver. I'll probably never bring it to the tracks. $8,200 for +2 cylinders, and +70ish HP, with the benefit of making ricers drive off bridges in WOT. But I live in RI. I could use that $8,200 to buy a 98 Jeep or something similar for the winters and keep the Mustang protected in the garage. Granted the V6 to V8 upgrade costs more than getting a GT from the start, especially if it's moded. You loose the money spent on the items, and installation. You loose money because it's already started to depreciate.

EHHHHHHH damn you mod bug!
