heres a good one
yea i would never S/C my car without a intercooler....thas, in a sense, wasting good power. and by saying "prep the engine" do u mean forged internals or the obvious things such as injectors and fuel pumps and stuff
forging the engine is the BEST but most expensive. But if you plan to put a blower on and want to have the engine last a long time..forging it is what to do. That and the intercooler. You don't HAVE TO have the intercooler, but upping the psi you really should. Small psi you dont really NEED IT, but will definately help with cooler air you get more power
this might sound stupid but.......hey check this out, Supercharger runs by using the belt right.??... and Turbo charger run by using the exhaust.?????... so is there any way you can do them both????????

Detroit diesels 6V92 silver series engines used to run a huge switzer turbo with the roots 6V92 blower. to say the least that engine had alot of grunt for it size of 552 cubic inches
11psi is fine on a stock engine intercooled. tune it properly and you will never have problems. it took over 40,000 miles to lose compression in my 98 running 11psi on stock injectors and no tune just using a procharger FMU turned all the way in. it was still lean and eventually took it's toll.
10-12 psi intercooled turbo would be max. any more than that and you will run a fine line to get it tuned properly
