First Things First...
Okay, I've got my first Mustang here. Never been big on modding, because I've never really had anything.. well, worth it. (Honestly, who mods Neons, Avalons, and Wranglers?) But, this is a Mustang we're talkin' here, and I'm all up in the spirit. About to earn about 4-500 extra, as well as my next paycheck, so i'll have a load free this month to spend. First things first, I want an exhaust. I've been doing a little homework and talking with friends, and comparing systems and profiles. Basically, I want THIS sound:
It was a link off this thread here:
Click here for MustangForums thread link.
If anyone has any ideas what this consists of, I'd really appreciate knowing it. Looking to get this all set up within the next two weeks or so. Any ideas on how long i'd expect the car to be up in the shop, or how much labor + parts would run?
Next up, I've hearing so much about these MAC cold air intake. Do you notice that much of a difference?
Will post more later.

Welcome.
First off, people do mod Wranglers. They put huge tires on then, different suspension. They do it cause they go "mudding". I actually have a friend who does it. It's kinda fun, actually. Anywho...
That exhaust setup is GT takeoffs and Force Flow mufflers from www.summitracing.com. You can get the GT takeoffs (which are basically the tail pipes from the muffler back, if I'm not mistaken), from a local junk yard or a muffler shop if they recently did a GT job and cut it off. The mufflers are like $30 a piece, come with a lifetime warranty, and don't make popping noises like Flowmasters. They're basically Flow knock-offs. If I were to get Flows, I'd get these instead. But I prefer MAC, but everyone has a different opinion. This whole setup will cost you in the ball park of $200 for everything complete.
And MAC cool fans? Do you mean cold air intake? If no, there's like a 1-4 rwhp gain. Not noticeable when driving, but looks nice if you get a chrome one, like MAC or BBK from www.autobadges.com.

It's not a bad sounding exhaust, but there is much better out there. Find Ericks (autobadges.com) clip, he has Borla and it sounds great.
Install is between $100-150
What MAC cooling fan? A tranny cooling fan? What exactly?

I'm sorry, yes I meant the cold air intake. Editted it to reflect that. again, as I said, I'm quite the newbie when it comes to this stuff. Do you have direct links to the parts I'd need, so I can compare prices and such, or buy before i head to a shop or a buddy? I'd appreciate a clip of the MAC setup you were talking about, Xemeth.
I've mostly been looking around this site for good-sounding exausts within my budget. Do you have any other clips that actually work?

some are gonna tell u to check autobadges and pay 170 for one, but im tellin you thats too much for one. check ebay and search for a mac cold air intake for a mustang. i got my mac cai for brand new for 140
I looked abit more around, and found a post of a guy with a similair situation. He basically stated that he took the GT takeoffs to the shop, and grabbed his flowmasters straight from the shop. I looked for 'force flow' on that site, and didn't find anything except a flowmaster 40 and 60 series. Like I posted earlier, direct links are going to be the key here. So, I suppose what I need to know are the following:
1) I need GT takeoffs. Will junkyard and muffler shops know EXACTLY what I'm talking bout if I walk in and ask them if they have some? Or.. if I read your above post correctly, do I need to ask for a muffler from a 2000-model GT 'stang and take it to the shop and have them cut it for me? What's the best way to get ahold of these, or can a muffler shop do it themselves?
2) If that clipped 'stang had the force flows, can you provide direct links to the item? Or is that just what you suggest? I'm liking that sound mostly because it doesn't have quite the ricer sound that I'm hearing more and more on mustangs, and it's deep and bassy. Is the force flow exactly what he used, or is that a product-placement guess? =P I'm not sure how much more off the flowmaster 40-series 2-chmabers would be, cause I'm sure I could get them from a muffler shop.
3) Having these two main components, is there ANYTHING ELSE I would need before going to the muffler shop (less I buy one or both of those from the shop)? I figure they should be able to make up the rear mounts, and I'd price to see if they can do anything about cut-outs rather than dropping the pipes, though that would be okay. Anyhow, off to bed before PT tomorrow. Cya'll later.

I believe these are the mufflers hes talking about http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=400359.
The guy should know what you are talking about. If he needs a year just tell him yours.
Have the guys at the muffler shop make you a custom x-pipe.
