Default Emissions

Thinking to start a helpful thread on emissions here, because I know I had problems with them at first. I'm thinking more of a research thread than anything, because I know people are always having issues with this. I have looked all over the TX DMV site, and am about to start calling around, but this is all I have found so far:

http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/smog-check.php

It's only listen certain counties as smog-checkable. I live in Bell County, one of the ones NOT listed.. would it be safe to assume that I'd be okay with an offroad pipe? So, I called around to the shops about here. I advise you to do this in your state. Currently, non-smogcheck counties Texas require only three things, via visible inspection ONLY:

1) Catalytic Converters
2) Mufflers
3) Pipes run all the way to the rear.

After that, you're all good!

Default RE: Emissions

from what i understand, most won't get under the car at all...if you have a working horn, lights and blinkers, and the car drove there it'll probably pass. that is not everywhere, but it seems like the general attitude of emissions control is a lot more lax when the government isnt breathing down your neck like they do in testing counties.

btw, every state has their own website and i would trust their info a lot more than a third party site like the one you listed (though all of that info is correct, who's to say they are going to update it as often as necessary)

Default RE: Emissions

It was actually one that I did pull off the DPS website, oddly enough.
