Default header question

i dont mean to come into ur forums uninvited. as my name implys, i drive an srt4, not a mustang but i have a question. ive been arguing with some kid on myspace who has a 1999 v6 stang and i needed some info from some mustang guys who would now the answers.

first of all let me give u the list of mods he told me he had...

-magnaflow exaust
-revolution HT plugs
-ford racing hot wires
-225cc ford racing cilinder heads
-8 bolt crank flywheel
-edelbrock RPM air gap manifold
-90mm cold air intake
-90mm mass air sensor
-underdrive pulleys
-GT40 shorty headers
-intake spacer
-Ford motorsports E-303 camshaft
-42lbs fuel injectors
-255 lph in-tank fuel pump
-preditor tuner
-on the road i have goodyear eagle F1 245/50/17
-on the track i got BFGoodrich g-force T/A drag radials

This jackhole told me he ran a 12.5 @118 with just these mods without the headers. i asked him what his 60' time was 3 times and he still hasnt answered me. i dont even think he knows what a 60' time is which makes me believe everything he says that much less. my first question is what do u guys think he would really run with this setup? i mean he doesnt have high compression pistons, hes not bored or stroked, no forced induction, and no nitrous. i told him he was probably making about 230hp at the wheels. is that a good estimant? i know hes obviously not modded enough to run in the 12s, or even the 13s for that matter.

then he told me he put the headers on so he should be running an 11.5. This is what made me laugh the hardest lol. second question, how much do u really think that those headers would really take off of a quarter mile time?

again, sorry for intrudding but i thought id go right to the source. if u guys have the time to answer i would appreciate it. im not arguing with a mustang guy, im arguing with an ignorant kid who thinks he knows about cars. there arent too many things that **** me off more than people who THINK they know about cars lol. thanks for the help.

welcome to the site. we v6er's are not idiots like the v6er trying to pass off that BS on to you

first off an E303 cam is for a 5.0 not the V6 here is a list of things that are for a 5.0 and will not fit on the 3.8 V6
-225cc ford racing cilinder heads
8 bolt crank flywheel
-edelbrock RPM air gap manifold
-GT40 shorty headers

that kid is a tool he is listing 5 things that wont even come close to fitting on a V6 mustang. he is full of crap about his car and times. it runs mid 15's at best is he is pretty much stock. even with ported heads, big cam, ported intakes and running 11.0:1 compression he would not run in the 12's NA he would need a 150-175 shot as well as the mods i list plus 4.10 gears to do it.

ask him what rear gears and what rearend came with his car. it came with a peg leg 7.5 rear with 3.27's in it. if he even says he added a T-lok laugh at him because there is no one running a V6 with T-lok in the 12's. the T-lok has a bad reputation for breaking and most guy's either swap in an 8.8 rear or add a detroit truetrac to the 7.5.

to be running 12.5 he would have to be putting out 340 rwhp and torque. that ain't happening on a 3.8 V6 without a poweradder and still be streetable. it can probably be done but it would have an extremely rough idle. supersix motorsperts www.supersixmotorsports.com runs a 4.3L stroker in an old fox LX that is built out the a$$ and only dyno's 270ish at the tires NA. with a 150 shot however that green Fox runs low 10's

the kid is an idiot. thanks for coming to our site. we hope you visit more often. please don't let that idiot give you then impression that all V6er's are like him. we are not.

oh shortie headers add maybe 5-7rwhp on our cars NA 7-10rwhp with longtubes. our stock headers flow very nicely and there is very little power to be found in them NA. with a procharger maybe 15-18 extra with LT's

also a rpm air gap manifold is not only for a 302 but it is also for a CARBURATED MOTOR! whats with the 90mm mass air? hes a ****ing idiot. highly modded 5.0's rarely run that big let alone a v6 lol. if he says your an idiot for believing us look at summit racing's website at the RPM air gap and the GT40 headers and you'll see what they are for. lol dont forget to bitch slap him too

That's funny, I'd love to see how he made 5.0 mods work on a V6.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Yeah e303 302 cam, 225cc heads HAHAH those 302 RACE heads, not intended for street use, and as for the flywheel ALL 302 flywheels have 8 bolts mmkay. lol, what a newb. And as for headers giving you 1 sec in the 1/4 BWAHAHAHHAAH, what is this kid on and why isnt he sharing. [8D]

No kidding, hey ask him if he'll share some with us. 8 bolt flywheel, pfft, he could of been a little more creative and said he had a king cobra or speck clutch with an aluminum flywheel, but I guess that one flew over his head.[8D]

haha. thanks for the help guys. i knew he was lying but i thought he had enough sense to at least list mods that were for a v6 lol. no this guy doesnt make me think badly about v6 owners so dont worry about that. theres people like him driving every kind of car.

o and his friend is a tool too. he told me he had a 1978 buick gnx. they didnt make the gnx until 87lol. he also told me it has a 455 motor so i told him that the gnx was a turbocharged v6 and he didnt believe me.

kinda sounds like hes been daydreamin about what he wishes he had instead of what hes got. he would almost have a good engine combo there if he knew what parts were carbed and what was fuel injected. lol what a turd. but my question is what is your take of your sr****-4 against v8's that do know what they're doin???[8D] yes your car is quick for a neon and easily made faster but still, its a neon lol they are just so ugly too.[sm=smiley11.gif]
