I got an oil change the other day and now my engine is running terrible. I thought maybe it was the fuel system cleaner i put in it (Just the STP stuff) But it has stayed running ruff now for a little over and week and that didnt happen the last two times i put it in. Smoke is coming out of my exhaust and when i step on the gas there is a pop sound and i have NO acceleration. Anyone ever experienced anything like this before?

 

it could either be the screen on the in tank fuel pump or the fuel filter

my friends f150 did the same thing when he hit the gas he could floor it and it would just did nothing it ended up being a stoped up fuel filter he replaced it and it was all good.

i would try replaceing the filter first

 

yeah it almost sounds like you aren't getting enough fuel. replacing the fuel filter is fairly easy, and if you haven't done it in awhile would be a good place to start.

did u check to see if the correct amount of oil is in your car?

 

What color is the smoke coming out of the exhaust?

 

Maybe they forgot to put in the oil or put in a couple less bottles.

 

If they forgot he most likely wouldn't have gotten a mile down the road. Happened to a friend of mine.

 

The smoke was white, I initially though it may have just been some burn off from them spilling oil but then i realized that woulda come from under my hood and not out of my exhaust. The smoke has now actually stopped but my car is still running like crap! Im now leaning away from thinking it was the oil change and leaning twords thinking it could be the injector cleaner...can that stuff damage your engine? I mean i know i got the stuff at wal-mart but it was STP so it wasnt some crappy wal-brand thing. My car is like shakin a little bit, the engine sounds like its runnin off balance and as i said before i have NO acceleration...it sucks because, like everyone here, i love my poney and this is not gonna work for me lol

 

it shouldnt be the fuel system cleaner. that stuff usually does help, its good stuff. did you fill up w/ gas when you put it in? if you have very little gass and a lot of the cleaner that probably isnt good.

 

yea ive used the stuff before and it worked really well to get rid of that engine knock so i wasnt hesitant at all to use it again. The stuff that happened last time when i used it happened again this time, it made my car run ruff for about 1/2 tank of gas, but now im going onto my 2nd tank of gas and its still runnin really ruff...i cant figure it out for the life of me!
