Default manifold problems

i recently took my mustang in to be checked because of the engine light came on all of a sudden. ok, i pay 70 bucks... and the guy tells me i have a hole in my manifold, so air is getting out and im losing power. he suggests i have the gaskets changed.... no problem, i dont mind that. but then he was telling me that this had to be fixed before he can see whats wrong with the engine. so i take my car, cause i always get more than one estimate...
but now, the engine light is no longer on... been bout 3 days since then. would that have anything to do with the check engine soon light

the codes he got off the test was P0456, i believe

oh i understand...

well according to the mechanic i have a lot of stuff to take care of.

manifold gaskets
possible manifold replacement on one side because of the damage that has been done already
tranny flush
fuel filter

hopefully with all this taken care of, my car will be back to normal. i honestly cant tell a power difference but i do hear the air escaping just a little bit sometimes

+1 the fuel filter you can do yourself. you can probably do the trany fluid to. i dont know how...if anyone knows how please tell me becaue i wouldnt mind doin it. the manifold stuff i think you might be screwed on but you could also probably do it yourself. is it your intake manifold or exhaust manifold? you said one side so im guessin exhaust. you could forget the manifolds and just get shortys if you need new ones.
