Just bought a 2003 Mustang V6 last month, and its been great to me so far.

However, just one thing bugs me. I have 3 pedals....and I have an automatic.

At first I thought it was the e-brake, but realized quickly mustangs have pull e-brakes. Then thought it was a clutch. But its all the way to the left, near the door (NOT next to the brake like a typical clutch). Also, the pedal looks like a flat accelerater (my regular gas pedal is curved in a way).

The manual said something about anti-ABS brake, does that mean it bypasses the ABS brakes?

I've pushed it while driving, and it does nothing.

Anybody have any ideas?

 

That pedal doesn't do anything, it is just a foot rest.

 

It's called a dead pedal. Try pushing it. You're not gonna move it. It's where you'd rest your foot if it was a manual, cause the clutch would be next to the brake.

 

i dont know if he is talkin about the dead pedal. i dont think you could mistake a plastic piece connected to solid metal as a pedal. maybe he did but my guess is that it is actually a pedal of some sort.

 

Could someone have possibly put a manual pedal assembly in there but never connected the clutch? But even then, the clutch pedal would be close to the brake, no?

Xemeth is right, its a "dead peddle". nothing more than a comfortable footrest. it has no function

 

Ya thats what it was. My buddy came over and looked at it and said thats what it was. I feel like an idiot [:'(].

Haha, i love my dead pedal. I dont know what i'd do without. I guess my car came with 4.
