89 and 93 2.3 difference???
My brother bought a 93 fastback today with a 2.3 and a junk tranny. My question is, is the 93 engine better than the 89 engine powerwise? The 93 seems to run really good, kinda snappy for a 2.3. I noticed that the 93 has two plugs per cylinder and the 89 doesn't, is that better? Would the swap be worth the effort?
Thanks
Randy

the '89 should be rated for about 90hp while the '93 will be rated for about 100hp, I'm not sure the 10hp difference would be worth the wiring headaches, but it's more your call I'd think
the 93 has a dual ignition system on it two coil packs. it dosnt have a distributor. I have one on my 91 coupe. it goes pretty quck with an exaust system and intake and other mods. its up too you if you want to do the swap.. BUT if the 89 has a carburated and the other is injected. if your looking for speed work one caruburated. you can get more performance parts for it plus you can think about adding a turbo to it...
89 is fuel injected. i reccomend taking the cam and followers from the 93 and putting it in the 89. its really about the only easy swap that has alright gains. swapping anything else, and its not worth the trouble cause you could just go 5.0 or turbo 2.3
