thats wut mine does. is there a alarm switch inside the car or under the hood. maybe the alarm is disabled. lock the car and "activate the alarm" then go and use your keys to open the door. if the alarm doesnt go off its disabled.

It should be pushing the button twice to beep the horn. The horn should been once. That indicates that the alarm will arm in 20 seconds. If the horn were to beep twice really quickly, that would indicate that you had left a door open. It would also beep twice if the trunk or the hood was open. Earlier, someone said that you could test the alarm by setting the alarm and then unlocking the door with your key. I don't think that would work. That isn't what sets the factory alarm off. The alarm is triggered by someone openning the vehicle from the inside (as if someone was to open the car from the inside after the alarm has been set). The way to test it would be to roll down the window and open the car after the alarm had been set. Using the key, would disable the alarm.

You can change when the horn beeps. You can change it to beep first time you hit the lock button. The factory setting is on the second time. I can't remember exactly how to do it, but it should be in the owner's manual. It is probably a matter of cycling the key. If your car was beeping the first time you hit the button and now it beeps the second time, I would guess the change happend about the same time you had the battery disconnected.
