It should be pushing the button twice to beep the horn. The horn should been once. That indicates that the alarm will arm in 20 seconds. If the horn were to beep twice really quickly, that would indicate that you had left a door open. It would also beep twice if the trunk or the hood was open. Earlier, someone said that you could test the alarm by setting the alarm and then unlocking the door with your key. I don't think that would work. That isn't what sets the factory alarm off. The alarm is triggered by someone openning the vehicle from the inside (as if someone was to open the car from the inside after the alarm has been set). The way to test it would be to roll down the window and open the car after the alarm had been set. Using the key, would disable the alarm.

You can change when the horn beeps. You can change it to beep first time you hit the lock button. The factory setting is on the second time. I can't remember exactly how to do it, but it should be in the owner's manual. It is probably a matter of cycling the key. If your car was beeping the first time you hit the button and now it beeps the second time, I would guess the change happend about the same time you had the battery disconnected.
our cars dont come from the factory with an alarm. all the beep is is a system check to make sure you have all the doors shut. there is no alarm. go "set your alarm" then smack your car with something. i can gaurantee you it wont set anything off unless you had an aftermarket alarm installed.

It's called a Passive Anti-Theft System. It will definitely have one. It's designed to go off when entry occurs, not when you bang on the car.

I've sat in my car and had a friend press the button twice from outside. I then moved around a lot, and messed with the door handle quite a bit. I finally unlocked the door and got out.....no alarm went off.

you need one if you live in the ghetto. otherwise dont bother. ive had my car for a year & no one has even touched it. nice exhaust. question..... do you have brackets welded the tips at the rear to support the exhaust or further forward where you cant see them???
