Detroit Tru Trac
2000 Ford Mustang
3.8L V6
7.5" Diff
Soon to be running 3.73's..
Should I go with T-Lok or Detroit Tru Trac. I plan on turning this into a track car.. there is no limit to my RWP I might get.
And money is not a problem..

I was asking.. if Tru Trac was the best? Apparentally so.
Upon installing it, do I JUST need the Tru Trac? Do I bring my new gears/tru trac to a shop and say put it in and they got the rest of the **** there? Or are there any other things I need to buy aswell.

a set of gears would be good 2, but depends if your gonna turbocharge ur car then leave the stock gearing, but if you want to get off the line quickly 4.10's would be good or you could go bigger
you need an install kit along with the gears and truetrac. you can also get a TA Performance rear girdle and bearing cap stud kit. this will make a real strong 7.5 rear that you won't have to worry about braeaking
take the gears/truetrac and install kit to a good tranny shop and have them install them. expect to pay about $300 for the install. if you plan on turbocharging then 3.45 gears are the best. if you go with a blower i like 3.73's but many like 4.10's either are good
you can get excellent quality used 3.45's or 3.73's from www.mpsautosalvage.com for $50/set. i have used gears on my procherged 98. you don't have to worry about using used gears as the 7.5 ring and pinion are quite strong. as long as there are no major chips in the gears your fine. i have bough a few gear sets from MPS and all have been like new quality
the money you would save on used gears would almost cover the difference in price of the ford T-lok compared to the truetrac
after the install go easy on the rear end and make short 20 minute runs at less than 60mph for the first 300-400 miles. this will allow the new bearings to seat without overheating and ruining them. after 400 miles put the hammer down. change the rear fluid within the first 1500 miles after the install. you do not need friction modifier with the detroit truetrac as it is a gear style LSD not a clutch style like the T-lok is
