There is nothing wrong with Nitrous. It is perfectly safe with a proper installation & an operator smarter than a monkey behind the wheel. Don't listen to people who've never used it and/or never installed it.

98stallion, you sound very inexperienced. Anyone who is in a hp starved car should absolutely love the ease of installation/use/price and availability of nitrous. So you suggest modding a V6 over swapping a PI 4. engine? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Scrump, what is your complete budget? Maybe I can offer some ideas.

sell it and buy a GT, or if you really want to do a swap, look for a 4V motor

http://mpsautosalvage.com/products/p...Specials=FALSE
$4,000 for a 2V motor

http://mpsautosalvage.com/products/list.cfm?TypeID=3
$600 for a T45 tranny

oh and you still need motor mounts, the ECU (can u deal with an ODB2?) driveshaft, some kind of upgrade on the rear end and all the accessories

GT take offs with force muffers ($300 at most)
HCI from supersixmotorsports.com ($1800)
Detroit true trac and TA rear Girdle ($520 ex install)
4.10 gears, ($150 or $50 for used 3.73s)
with all that you should be running low 14s atleast, posiblillity of high 13s with some good tires forabout 3 grand then 3 grand

or, for $4500 you get an 11 psi procharger with just the appropriate upgrades and you can be around 300 rwhp on a split port,

combine the two and you can have dan up there looking at your tail lights

yes, stronger rods, crank, mains, block and better flowing heads then 5.0 or NPI heads,

If you plan on getting a blower, forget about the CAI and UDP's. You'll have to take them off. Here's my list of what I'm doing after the tranny swap. Might help you a bit.

-24% UDP's from Autobadges.com
-Heads Cam and Intake from supersixmotorsports.com
-Forged rods, pistons, and crank.
-Custom turbo from this shop I have near my house tuned to somewhere in the ballpark of 14 psi.

Now that's just the engine. I didn't include stuff like gears and LSD. Although I might just go with a new rear end. Who knows, depends on what ends up being cheaper/better.

i agree that nitrous is a good thing but a 100 shot is max on stock 3.8 pistons.

it doesn't make sense to you to mod the 3.8 because you most likely know nothing about the 3.8. it was a modified copy of Buicks 231 stage 1 block. ford improved on the buick design and thank god used cleveland heads as inspiration for the aluminum heads on the ford 3.8. ports are generous and can be easily ported to flow 220+CFM on the intake. the mains and rods are the same size as the 351W and 351W rods can be modified to be used in the 3.8 if needed.

what are you going to spend on a PI 4.6 to get 400 rwhp??? about $5000 not including the cost of swapping it in. what does it cost to get 400rwhp from a 3.8. $5000 without having to spend money on a swap.

the reality is that the 3.8 is a very good basis for modding. if you think otherwise it shows your lack of experience with them.

a turbo kit from www.tmaturbo.com pushing 11psi will give 400rwhp in an internally stock 3.8 and will be a reliable daily driver with a proper tune. when i built buicks i only dreamed of 400rwhp at just 11psi. it took me 21psi to get the same power from my old 86 T-type

Honestly Dan... you might want to watch what you say about the engine too as people here get pissed easily and dont like it when you rag on their engine... in some cases their engine is a direct correlation with their situations in life.
