Default Tuner Question

Today i went in for my smog test and before i went in i decided to return my tune back to stock, so i put my sct2 tuner in and selected return to stock, it did its thing and i was off for the test....I passed the test, but the werid thing is that my car seems to be running BETTER. Before i took off the tune my car would make this sort off loud ticking noise around the tranny area, but after i detuned it the noise at hihger rpms is gone and the car sounds solid all around...what do you think happened....you think when the company put the performance tune in they put it under stock or could it be something else?

If you're hearing a ticking around the tranny, it's something hitting the subframe, not the tuner.

no...it was the tuner....yesterday i drove and it made the sound, today i detuned it and there was no hint of the ticking sound

...and when i detuned it, the car still had off the rev limiter, and i suppose the speed limiter is off too

You drove it around one time and didn't notice. Ok, just reload the tune and see if it does it again, like I said, I'm 95% sure it's not the tuner, because all the tuner adjust is your ecu, nothing more. Ticking noises are caused by things hitting in spots they shouldn't be hitting, or caused by bad parts, or a combination of the two.

Very true, I forgot about pinging, if you're not using the right octane on a certain tune, then you'll suffer from pinging which is caused by predetonation.

Get someone else to detune or tune it without telling you and see if you can tell. Its called the placebo effect.
