Default Mechanical question!?

Perhaps someone has an idea?

Today I pulled into my gf's driveway and right before I turned the key off I heard an awkward noise. I didnt think much of it and figured if it did it again I would be concerned. So I'm driving home and its running fine until I get within 1/4 mile of my house. It sounds like an exhaust leak (cha cha cha cha sound..get it?) but its more mechanical sounding. It almost sounds like something is in my fan. Yesterday I filled the tank, gave it a good bath at the car wash, and did a good oil change on it. Fushed it, new air filter, switched to synthetic, and a bottle of Lucas. Any clues? Hopefully its jsut a belt or something...

No, also, this only happends when apply pressure to the gas. Let off and it stops, push and it starts. The more gas given, the faster it goes. If parked, it doesnt make it even if gassing it.

No, I know what your talking about though

Does it sound like ball bearings going around a center axel, you know, that clank clank clank noise. If it is, then it's an exhaust leak. Check the bolts on your headers, then go back from there checking all your bolts, and looking for holes in the exhaust.

How long were you driving before you pulled into your girlfriend's house? Also what was the temperature reading on your thermostat? When an engine is borderline over-heating it'll make that clank-clank-clank noise and increase in speed when accelerating. When at idle your car would sound like a turbo-diesel truck with that clank clank noise. You said you flushed your radiator coolant so if it still does it and indeed your temp. reading's are high, then have a look into the cylinder head gasket because a crack in that causes cooling system failure.

Check your passenger side manifold and cat pipe, you may have fallen victim to the all too common crack from water dripping onto it from the a/c drain.
