Best mods will be similar to your 5.0L, super chager (vortec is good, but the M-90 is a great deal), limited slip differential (sixers don't have them), gears, you can stroke it, port it, perform head swaps, cam swaps, N2O, pretty much anything. However going to true dual exhaust is a near must.
Check out http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/ and http://www.rpm-mustangs.com/ for some ported heads, ported intakes, cams, and stroker kits
Just go to ebay for some M-90 superchargers, although there are some sites that sell them new and or rebuilt.

Just look in my sig at my performance mods, they're pretty much all bolt ons, and I can smoke even a new GT, and I don't even have a dyno tune yet. If you absolutely want a big power adder, then I suggest a s/c. They're much easier than the turbo kits and I consider them more reliable for street use, as well as power throughout the power the power band, not just a peak when it finally spools up.

a TMA TT kit at 14 psi is safe on a stock motor and will put down about 400 rwhp
yes that is safe on a 100% stock motor
