agreed, i dont see why everyone is so eager to dismiss not telling the insurance about a motor swap when technically i think you're supposed to tell them if you have modifications that make the car faster and do any of you do that?

all my mods are

and cause they will not cover you at ALL for it, not just the parts you put in (i.e motor) you will not get a dime for a shell of a car, basically, no insurance, but its like $25 a month, so just stop buying a coffee in the morning and your set and then some

but, i still think its a waste, so build the 6 or buy a cobra/mach1

OK so here's the recap;

If you dont report it, they wont cover the new parts, youll get the stock replacements in the worst case scenario. IF you DO report, youre looking at way higher insurance, and even then they are not so inclined to insure your aftermarket. There are independent companies that will insure your aftermarket parts for you, and it's not very expensive.

you are not required by law to report performance modifications to the existing factory engine equipped car.

you do have to notify you insurance by law of an engine swap to a V8 from a V6 model as they have different premiums.

funny though how a subaru STI has lower insurance than my V6 because the STI is a four door

I think it was Popular Hot Rodding, they had an article on the Mallet Edition Solstice/Sky.

pretty much, you buy your Solsitce/Sky and take it to the Mallet shop and they drop an LS2 or LS7 along with one of GMs truck trannys. Car + LS7swap = $60K

at the end of the article they said somthing like: another great reason for the transformation was paying insurancefor a 4banger, but havinga V8.

but Cobra232 is prolly right, its got to be some form of fraud to not tell them.
