Default another header question

Ok,I was going to just replace my manifold that was cracked but I got a quick fix done to get to the end of the month and tax return time. I have decided to go with the MAC shorty headers http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/Headers.htm but I have a couple of questions. I have a '99 V6 'vert and when ordering these it has the option of with air intake or without. How do I know what I need? Also is there any actual performance difference between the MAC or the JBA ones other than the JBA are stainless steel? Finally, what is the difference between short and long tube (besides the length obviously). I know the short are pretty much a direct swap with my stock manifolds and the long ones require more extensive mods, is there a performance difference that makes it worth that?

Disregard the question on the long tube, I just read on the product descriptions that they wont fit on convertibles

Did you check with MAC on the Longtubes? I can't see what would be different, since the only thing on the bottom are factory subframes, but they're not in the way. You won't see any performance gains frmo shorties like you would from long tubes.

Oh as it's not air intake, it's "air injection", my 02 has it.

air injection would be the port on your stock manifold on the passengersidefor the smog pump to recirculate exhaust gases

If you look at your EGR, follow the 15/16 tube from it to the manifold, if it's tehre, then you have air injection.

OK, i will take a look and see if I have air injection or not. I did see the post on the long tubes. If I can use them, are they the better choice than the shorties?

I just sent an email to MAC to see why exactly the LT's wont work on the Vert. Hopefully theyll get back to me soon. But LT's are supposed to be better. the Shorties are pretty mcuh the same as the manifolds.

you could also get 97 or 98 headers which almost never crack and are almost identical to MAC or JBA shorties

try www.mpsautosalvage.com in their product inventory. the only issue with these headers is you would need to modify your EGR tube to mount to the 97 or 98 headers which are both different from each other. 98's are a stand alone year for the EGR location on the headers but 94-97 are all the same except for early 94's with castiron "headers"

here ya go i did the hard work for ya. $65 for the set

Thanks for looking into the long tubes if they work or not. My question with these now is how much harder are they to instsall? I have seen posts saying that the long tubes will require cuting my exhaust pipes to make it fit and possibly other things.
