Default major problem need advice

anyone ever had to replace or restructure engine cradle? its a long story but in short i have to get it fixed and i was told the parts is not that expensive but they want to charge me a grand mostly labor. it does not have any affect with the performance of the car other that my wheels can not be perfectlyaligned. it can be close but never perfect. i have been driving with my car like this for about a year. and i really need to know if this has ever happened to anyone or if someone can offer some advice. Please no bashing . thanks

ok if anyone wants to read this here is the story.
back when i first got my car i use to hang out with a bunch of guys with nice cars that were older and much more driving experienced. I admired them and watched their driving. well bunch of them did this power sliding technique and i thought i could do it . in short i took a almost 90 degree angle curve at roughly 70 mph. i did not make it and flew off the road onto a small bank. after that i had it looked at and thats what they told me. i dont know if it was very smart to wait this long to fix it but i let it slip my mind so i am saving up right now to get it done except anything else that has messed up between now and then i am getting it upgraded not just replaced. thanks for caring if you read this

You need a new k-member is what it sounds like. The labor sounds about right, because you're basically removing the entire front suspension and pulling the motor, without actually removing it. It's not hard to do if you have the right tools though. You have to get a cherry picker, or engine support (a crossbar that mounts above the fenders to support the engine) to support and raise the engine slighly and remove the motor mounts.

I dont remember the site, but there are some aftermarket ones available for the 6, that are like the aftermarkets for v8's, tubular steel and a lot lighter,I would search for one of those, as I always say, if you have to replace/repair, upgrade, you wont regret it.

k-member = engine cradle, jsut a different name. You can get new motor mounts, but if yours are ok, then leave em in there.

woah, I thought that said WEED advice....well, while I'm here...

Go Maximum Motorsports, and get the one designed for the 4.6, as the mounting points are the same. I'm about to order this exact same one. Also, I've heard many a story about tubular K members breaking...but if MaxM makes it, considering the beating they put their stuff through, I'd trust it.
