Default clutch

my 2000 has 85k miles on it and i dont knwo if the previous owner did the clutch.....its not slipping or anything but today i heard a slight chrip from the throwout bearing when i started it up and then it went away....it doesnt completely engage until im at the end of the pedal....do i need a new clutch or does it need to be a adjusted......and if i replace my clutch with a stage 1 do i need to resurface the flywheel or buy a new one or whatever....will alumnium be alot beter
