Default Shifter

I'm debating sticking with the automatic tranny instead of the swap to manual, but I want to make it work like a manual.

First question. Will this shifter fit my 2004 V6? It says 4R70W, which is what I have, right? But then for the ending year it says 2000. So I'm not sure.

B&M Hammer Shifter

Also, what would I need to make it so I shift through the gears myself? I know someone said shift kit with manual valve bodies, but WTF is that? Would it make it so I would be putting it into 1 as opposed to D, and then shifting up into 2 and then D like you would shift a manual except no clutch pedal?

Basically I'm looking for a detailed explanation of what exactly I'd need to do this. I figure it'd be cheaper than the swap, and basically the same thing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: Oops, forgot the link.

not sure about the whole shifting yourself thing but i dont think that shifter would look good at all in the stang. i dont know how you would get it in there or make it fit or anything

i have heard great things about those B&M shifters but not for our applications, i think that a tuner and shift kit with a stall converter would be more applicable for you and just mastering the d 2 d shifting for launching your auto. the 1 2 d shift will do nothing for your performance

why would the 1,2 D shift not do anything, and what exactly is the D2D shift?like you keep it in drive launch then let it auto switch to 2nd then you go down to 2, then run it and push it back up into D?

the 1 2d shift is just like manually shifting your car but the d 2 d is a computer program entered by ford which presurizes lines in order to give u a firmer shift something the 1 2 d does not do

Yeah, I know the D2D shift and that 1-2-D does nothing. I actually got a hang on the D2D shift. I was just wondering if this setup would change that or something.

I thought it over, I'm just gonna go with a manual swap. I'll just save up the extra money and be happier.
