ORIGINAL: 98Ga

A PI 4.6 has more power stock than a 5.0. I believe the 5.0's had somewhere between 220 and 230 bhp, and the 99-04 4.6's have 260. The 5.0 is kinda overrated as some god of an engine for some reason. Although I'm sure if Ford made a 5.0 Stang right now it'd have well over 300hp.

Yes, PI engines do have more power, but they're also newer, and much more expensive to mod. Believe it or not, it is relativly easy, and cheap, to push a 5.0 up to around 240-270 rwhp without F/I. All you have to do is get a set of GT-40 heads, a larger diameter TB, and some type of high flow intake, and you're good to go as they respond really well to mods. Like I said before, there is no replacement for displacement. Only downside is the 5.0 can't take as much overall hp as the 4.6L.

Oh and Ford is about to release a special edition 5.0 in 08. The new engine is a reproduction version of the Boss 5.0. It's aa castiron block (I believe)capable of taking well over 700 hp. The new Boss 302 is gonna be rated somewhere around 350 hp, and the block itself will be availible sometime soon this year at a price of $1800 for the block. There is a site that is taking orders for them.I'm gonna try to get me one somtime within the next two years, because they "should" just bolt right up with little modification, and then strokeusing a 347 forged stroker kit.[8D]

Also, just buy a damn GT, swaping a V6 to a V8 is very costly.

it will cost around 5k to have the swap done

5k and your V-6 should be pushing 400+ rwhp

computer, rear end, tranny, alternator, etc, everything is needed, plus, if you dont tell your insurance company they will not cover you, i dont mean you only get what a V6 is worth, i mean you get NOTHING

If I stick with a v6, will the insurance company still cover me if i get a supercharger and don't tell them. I figure that's considered aftermarket and if something happens, I'm screwed either way, but just figured I would ask.

I'm wondering the same thing, because a supercharger seems more practical and cheeper in the long run.
