Default pumping gas problems

everytime i try to pump gas it just keeps shuting off after like 3 seconds. so i gotta keep holding it when it clicks off. it wasnt like this before. i could pumps gas at any gas station with no problem now it happens everywhere. i know the problem is with my car (2000 v6/83000miles) and not the pumps. what could it be?

It could be the gas pumps and you're just extremely unlucky. I used to work at a gas station, and this would happen from time to time. Best thing to do is hang up the nozzle and try again.

are you sure you're shoving the nozzle all the way in? It seems like when you do it half-way it shuts off like that. Just my own observation though

check your gas filler tube for any debris or pluggage.. only advice i have.. use a plumbing snake with a rag on it to clean out that tube

Does it click off when you reach the maximum limit for the tank? Or does it begin to overflow out of the tank.

i know in central florida where my grandmother lives most stations around there do that to save gas, i guess the figure if it is aggravating enough then u will just settle with the amount of gas that u have in the tank, i know its not her vehicle cause it does it to mine down there also, i could be that or if its your car then i would try and check to see if there is a blockage in the filler tube
