Default CAI Question???

I have a MAC CAI that goes into my fenderwell, the only thing is that its a pain in the a$$ to clean the air filter. Could I cut mine short and make it look like this? would I lose or gain anything by doing this? I dont want to do anything till I get some feedback, you know what they say measure twice cut once!!! thanks

LOL i took that pic from a guy who posted here today, then I circled the filter and rad hose to show something about needing a heatshield which i posted about today also. Now youre using it....lol

That is almost exactly what mine looks like. I think that pic is on a V8 though.

When I bought mine from ebay it was originally a fenderwell but due to fitment issues I had to make mine a straight shot. Now as for hp gains, it's very minimal but my stock exhaust is def louder now.

I'd just cut the pipe about 3-4 inches after the MAF.

Oh yea and mine whistles so loud now. I previously had stock intake with k&n filter and air silencer removed and it didnt sound nearly as loud and never whistled like it does unless it was start up and even then it was nothing like it is now. Its sweet.

I thought that picture looked familiar (lol). BTW. There is a lot of room between the filter and hose, it just looks close in the picture and it's a V6.

You will be able to see the filter so you can tell at a glance it's dirty and removing it to clean is very easy compared to crawling under your car to do it. That one WAS a fender mount but I didn't want that hassle so I made it a straight shot.
