Are you buying cheap gas? Some stations that sell gas cheap their gas isn't very good and I've had detonation from it which is what your problem soulnds like since it only does it when you floor it. How about when you are in lower gears so the enginge is not bogging at all, does it do it then?

i highly doubt it's a lifter as they almost never go bad. most likely it's a slight crack in the header as they were known for that. also the 3.8 has a reputation for having a slightly noisy valvetrain which is all it could be also. like another said if it's at WOT it may be detonation. try some higher octane fuel and seafoam the intake through the PCV port. the PCV's are known to allow too much oil through into the intake and it leaves deposits on the intake valves which will make a noisy situation as that valve may be slower to open and close and the rocker may be slapping against it. we are only talking about a couple of thousanth's of an inch play but enough to make a noise at highrpms.

could have a slightly loose sparkplug too. there are alot of things that can cause your symptoms but the lifters are way down on the list of what i would check first
