Default Engine Problem

Ok my engine has been making a tick tick noise at wide open throttle and its starting to worry me that something big is about to go wrong. The rapid tick tick noise only happens when i floor it but doesnt make it when im normally driving. Please tell you guys have ideas

my guess is that it's an exhaust leak, but a lifter tick will make noise under the same conditions as an exhaust leak i believe (but it should be audible even at crusing speeds).

try to pinpoint where in the engine bay it's coming from and check the exhaust for loose connections, missing gaskets, or leaking welds. i think the most common problem for you sixers is the welds on the exhaust manifold.

i dont think its an exhaust leak because i have had one and got the whole car inspected for more when it was up on a lift

well then you're going to have to be more specific so people aren't just guessing at problems they don't have enough information about.

have you recently put on a 93 octane tune and run lower grade gas in it?

does putting a screwdriver on the valve cover amplify the tick? (you might need to put your ear on it to hear it through the screwdriver)

have you checked the manifolds and confirmed or disconfirmed any leaks or at least possibilities that that's where the sound is coming from?
