as the subject states, i have a problem with my windshield wipers turning on without notice. about every other time i drive the car my wipers will randomly turn on. sometimes they will do it once and will stop. other times it will do it until i actually turn on the wipers and then turn them off. its not a major problem, its just more of an annoyance and embarrassment while out on a date. anyone know what could possibly be going on and how to fix it? any help would be much appreciated. thank you.

 

Itsounds like it's the multifunction switch internally closing intermittently. Does it happen to do it when you're operating another accessory, such as headlights, turn signals, maybe have the lights on high beam or low? It's possible that a power wire to another accessory can be contacting the power wire for the wipers, but by the way you described it, I doubt that's the case. I would roll with a multifuntion switch and see what that does for you. You're going to spend about $30 on it or so. Just remove the ignition cylinder, steering column shroud, and then the multifunction switch. Nothing to it. 20 minutes tops.
