Default help transmission problems!

well my engine is running for once :P
2.3L piece of crap 1986 LX
But here are my symptoms and I know it's my transmission
#1 I can't get out of first gear in drive it just revs up to like 4000 rpm
#2 it's slipping while this is happening
#3 but I can shift manually into 2nd gear
#4 the engine shakes really badly in drive when I am at a stop light matter of fact the whole car shakes but if I shift into neutral the shaking stops
#5 it makes an ugly noise when I shift into reverse as well as when I shift into drive from neutral.

well i am eather thinking that your clutch is gone or that there is something really bad going on in it....i have an 1985 jeep cherokee and i blew the **** out of it when it was slipping like you say that yours is and i can still get it to move in 4th and 5th(the only gears left) so let just hope that doesn't happen to you...maybe there is something wrong with the gears

I agree. I've fixed a few automatic trannys by changing the fluid and filter.

yea, I have an 83' Mustang convertable automatic. I traded a cadillac 90' sevillie for it, and it leaked like you wouldnt believe out of the tranny. Well I fixed all that when i took it to the shop. After that it drove but we had to adjust the distributor and idle. Now when in park it idles kinda high but when you put it in drive, it cuts way down but dosent stall anymore. Now 2nd gear slipps, its not real bad yet. I'm going to get some Lucas Non-Slip tansmission conditionor. I hope this fix will last a couple of months till I can replace the tranny. Took it out on the highway and it flew, just going up two way highway hills at around 55mph 2nd gear starts to slipp. In town it has to ease into it, and it doesnt always do that. Well we'll see what happens I guess.
