I totally agree with Ryan on all counts except #7. I don't feel it's any harder on your engine than any other power adder (turbo / blower) if you use it right.

I'm not comparing nitrous to other power adders, just to a stock, no mods, engine. Hard driving with no mods will also decrease engine life, but not like the "Big 3" power adders can.

I totaslly agree on that but do you think a turbo or blower is hard on a motor or just if you have one and then dive hard all the time?

If you add one, do you honestly think you're not gonna drive it hard, at least more often than normal? lol

That depends on the person. I was saying I feel it's safe for an engine "if used right" which means not driving hard from light to light all the time. It's no worse on an engine than any other power adder when used correctly. A 16 year old kid can put a blower on his V6 and drive easy (most of the time) so is the blower rough on the engine then? No, it's the person driving that can be rough on a engine. I don't think it's fair to say "Nitrous is dangerous for your engine" when it's clearly the 'driver' that is to blame.

That is very true nbut not the point ryan was trying to make. He was merely saying compared to running on a stock motor the Nitrous does add more stree. ( that is a fact cant argue with that) So, jus for example, a stock motor that usually goes at 150k with probly pop at say 120-130k even if it is taken care just because (like all other big power adders) more stress on the motor=less life vs a stock motor

Yeah I agree with that but what I'm saying is nitrous is no worse on an engine than any other power adder if used properly. You can make the same argument about any power adder or better heads or bigger cam though. It depends on the driver. If some one asked about putting a turbo on his car are you going to tell him it's dangerous for his engine? What about a bigger cam? He will probably be getting on it more so is the cam dangerous? ALL power adders can be dangerous for an engine if not used properly. Racing in general is dangerous for an engine even when it's bone stock. I'm just saying it's the driver that makes any thing dangerous for his engine.

i have a 1998 i don't have the headgasket prob. and it only has 74,000 miles on the whole car. and only like 1000 mi total have been of hard driving because i bought with 68,000 miles on the car and bought itfrom a private school teacher who was old and was the original owner. she never drove that car hard one time. so my engine is in good condition.

If you use it wisely it should be fine but like Ryan is saying (& I agree), hard driving is rough on engines so learn all you can about it and keep things on the safe side.
