Default CMP Sensor

Hey all. My check engine light has come on again for the 4th time with the code 0340, Camshaft Position Sensor or circuit failure..does anyone know how easy this is to fix? I have looked in my CHilton's Manual and it looks like a real pain in the a** to do by one's self. Can someone here help me out? Anyone ever replaced theirs before???

doesnt look like its too hard to replace....

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor — 3.8L

Removal
1.Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to «Section 414-01».
µ2.Remove the camshaft position (CMP) (12126) sensor:

lDisconnect the connector.

lRemove the bolts and the sensor.

Installation
1.To install, reverse the removal procedure.

oh, thats for a 2000, so it might be a little differnt for yours but im srue its very similar...

Hey thx. Man, I thought I was going crazy. It says a whole bunch of crap in the chilton's manual that I have that you have to worry about stator alignment and stuff like that or else the fuel system will get screwy and mess up the engine...but the guy at the parts store was like me too, what the heck is all that crap in the book for...

Turns out the part I bought isn't even the right one for my car. Seems that my part is not what is pictured in the manual that I have....but its the part that most of the parts stores here have listed...very strange. Looks like I may end up having to go to the dealer for the part eck.

that just happened to me about a day ago, i f*cked up my tps so i went to get a new one and they gave me one. i put it on and the car ran worse than before, it did look a little differnt but i didnt really think much of it at first. so i got online and looked at pics, the one they gave me was from a 98 but they had it in there computer till 00. so i got the one there computer said was an 01 sensor and it works great now.
