Default Loose throttle cable?

Over the years, my gas pedal has slowly migrated closer to the floor, and it seems like I can't open my throttle as much any more becasause the pedal is already pretty low. In other words when I floor it (which isn't very often any more) the car doesn't go as fast as it used to, nor would I loose traction (no TCS). Are there any adjustments I can make to restore the hieght of my gas pedal?
