Rough run after warm
fuel pump has always been a possibility but that doesnt account for the heat issue, it only does it when its hot, thats why i think it is electrical, my plugs are fine and i have brand new wires so it aint my problem
Check for intermittent spark when the engine is warm. Does your car run fine if you shut if off and restart it immediately?
Fuel pumps do heat up and if the diaphram in the pump or the motor in the pump is seizing then heat causes the internals to expand and thus lose pressure. When it cools down it works fine until it starts to seize again.
Until you check the fuel pressure you cannot take that out of the equation.
I'm stickingwith the fuel pump...on a 99...very possible.

That's what I said earlier, they can appear fine and not throw a code but the only way to really know is pull it off and watch the plunger while it's being cycled. If the IAC's motor is working it won't throw a code but the plunger can still be stuck or not opening far enough and they can act up more when warmed up. I had that happen on my Ranger, no code but rough runnining and stalling. We cycled it with the IAC off and sure enoung the plunger was not opening enough.
yea me too and the other 2 of us, i just looked at it and it does need to be cleaned none the less so ill do that 2morrow and i couldnt look at it and keep the car runnin at the same time so ill have 2 wait for another set of hands
this may at least help me out

it's probably going to be either the fuel pump or one of the two reference sensors. the best way to test fuel pressure is to hook a gauge to the fuel rail and go from there. you also need to check the fuel volume. you may have plenty of pressure, but if you don't have enough volume, you're going to have problems. a common problem that people make is doing what the trouble code reads. that'sa huge no no. that just wastes a lot of time and money throwing parts at a car. you really need to take it to a ford dealer instead of messing with these smaller independent shops. not all dealerships are crooks.a fewof the reasons they charge more than independents is because they have invested more money in equipment, facility, advertising, and technicians. they work in a nice facility, not under a tree out back.

Check with Kragen, I paid $47.00 for the one on my 03 Ranger. We tried cleaning mine and it still wouldn't open up. You could barley see it move at all. The way we cycled it was by hooking up his computer to the OBD2 port and from the computer he could cycle the IAC without the engine running so I could watch it, (my nephew has a shop). If it runs on 12V you could just connect some jumper wires and cycle it but I don't know how many volts it is so you find out before doing it that way. I'll ask him tomorrow and see if he knows off hand and let you know.
