It's almost high humidity here and rain or shine cold or warm it still shocked us from day one. I've had a couple other cars that did it too and never figured out why some do it.

i think it happens mostly to us people who drive manuals. when you go to push the clutch in you are rubbing your leg aginst your seat, and how many times do you push the clutch in when you are driving? a lot. it's the same concept of rubbing a balloon on your head.
that's my theroy.

The static shock come from the car, not him. One of those ugly static strips should do the trick.

Another way to avoid getting shocked is when you open the door to get out place your hand on the rocker panel then put your foot on the ground. It works fine as long as you remember to do it.

sry to ruin the manual theory, but my car does it every now and again too it'll go like a few weeks straight, then not do it for a few months and i have an auto

so the only fix for this is dragging a rubber strip on the ground? thats gay

Some different material seat covers would probably solve it too. I have a new split leather sofa that I had to cover because I would get shocked after sitting on it.
