not worth it for a NPI V8. although you CAN pick a used one up from MPS complete for like $600 bucks. you would need a beefed up rear-end amongst a LOT of other stuff. did the 96-98 GTs have T45s yet?

It wouldn't bolt directly up. I THINK (don't quote me) that the bellhousing is different. Either way, there'd be a lot of parts to change out. If you could, look for a 99-04 4.6, they have PI heads and a lot more power. Or you could do a PI swap on the NPI 96 engine.

for all the trouble you could at least find a PI GT engine and have 260.

try and find a wrecked gt donor car for the rear end trans gauge cluster ecu and wiring harness, i would think the v6 trans could go on the gt motor i think on a different forum i read a post were some one was doing the swap and listed the parts as well and they were saying the tranny can work... ill see if i can find something or search on 3.8mustangs.com i believe. grab the motor and build it up on a stand for fun worse comes to worse...

as someone else said, an NPI motor isn't worth the time or money. you can get a low miles PI 4.6 for a few hundred bucks. hell, you can get a 5.4 for under grand.

a NPI motor will pull you from mid 16s to low 15s, a tbird supercoupe V6 motor will pull you from mid 16s to at the highest low 14s

unless its a 4V 5.4 dont bother unless you like to waste money
