i was looking at a kit from rpmoutlet that included a BBK 70mm Throttle Body, Mac Cold Air Kit ,and a MotorVator Throttle Body spacer. it claims that the kit will add 28+ rwhp. do you think this kit would be worth the $460?

 

that claim is false. maybe on a fully built v6 with stroker and high comp pistons, but not on most peoples cars. you might get 10 rwhp.

 

yea i thought those number were a little high. also ive heard that a 70mm throttle body can actually take hp from a v6 unless it has a supercharger or turbo is this true?

 

only on pre-99s. the max for those cars is 56mm. i have no blower and the 70mm TB did not hurt power. it does not add much power to a nearly stock car (intake, exhaust) but does increase throttle response and more low-end torque. your best bet would be 1.8 roller rockers and P&P the intake manifold. trust me

 

i wouldnt give that kit more than a 6 hp gain max.

 

oh and a bigger tb=useless for most 3.8's. it "could" help on a build or blown 3.8/4.2, but even with all possible bolt on's it will do nothing but empty your pockets.
