had to ask. how good are the k&n cai. im considering getting it cuz its a stright shot (non fender mounted right?) and 50 states legal. im in cali

so my question is. any differance in hp gains when compared to bbk, or MAC?

just get the filter and remove the silencer man. so much cheaper and you get the same HP gains. just a little less "intake noise"

 

yea dont worry about the intake just get the filter and get rid of the air silencer adn maf screen
its just as good as the rest of em but have had troubles with idle sometimes

 

is this the little mesh screen in the rubber intake tube behind the air filter?

will this still be cali smog legal btw?

 

it will be legal, take out the rubber tube and take apart ur intake box, where the filter goes, and over the maf there is a little metal screen, remove it for a lil extra flow, thats how im set up and it works great with no problems

 

The screen sets right in front of the MAF, leave it there and do as some suggested already and put in a K & N filter and remove the silencer. You'll get the same power gains and be legal.

 

with the stock intake i have never heard of any problems removing the screen nor have i had any problems for the year and a half that mine has been like that, just a lil extra flow but w/e
