Default Exhaust + headers installation

so i checked out two shops... only one will install the headers and they said it would be around $500 in labor for the installation for headers + exhaust system/H-pipe, is that a fair price?

ps. he said the LT's + catalytic H-pipe then exhaust will pass emissions/isn't illegal..
why do some people say it is?

Long Tubes are never legal, just like O/R pipes. Never heard of LT's that allow you to use Cats....?

That sounds like a fair price for an exhaust system using LT's..those are a biatch I've heard and may require lifting the engine.

It's not bad. It's a long and time consuming job, so $500's fair.

noooo not the stock y pipe, jsut get a custom h set up or get the h-pipe conversion from AM then get whatever gt catback u want, then u can have true duals not a y pipe set up[:'(]

Now im a little confused, so LT's wont pass emissions even with cats on, thats what I understood from that. Anyone care to explain to me why this is?

That sounds like a fair price to install headers, but if your even a little mechanical inclined, its pretty simple to do yourself. LT's are the only way to go.

Doesnt a GT Catbak require cutting the bumper and getting differnet hangers?

well im ordering a GT bumper anyways so it looks right and i gain a little clearance for the tips... its actually cheaper to run the H-pipe because the Borla system is cheaper for the GT so i will save money doing it
