auto trans. problems
ok.. my car has always shuttered when i cruise around at like 48-50 mph with a little gas. i wasn't too worried about that, though the transmission fluid needs to be changed soon (i have 59k miles on the car). however, today i was driving and when i'm out driving on the highway and acellerating steady with the trottle at about 50% - 60% the car car goes to 2nd fine but revs to like 3200 rpm shutters kinda of bad, then jumps to 3800, shifts and suddenly drops to about 3000 when it goes into 3rd. 3rd to 4th is decent, just a lil rough.do i need to thoroughly flush the fluid and change it and put a new filter in to totally fix the problem or is it something worse that needs to go to a shop. some help PLEASE!
i'malmost certainit's coming from the transmision since if i lift off a certain way sometimes, it changes gears. and like i said b4, when i drive between47-51-ish mph. it would shutter around like it was trying to decide what gear to go into. i dunno if a fluid and filter change would solve this though.. maybe? but i don'tknow - hopefully some of ya'll will give me some suggestions. thanks!
The problem you are having is directly related to the torque converter. these cars have electronic controlled transmissions. the ECM has preset shift points the the converter is shuddering attempting to lock up. my car does the exact same thing at 32mph (2nd to 3rd) and 44mph (3rd to 4th) . at WTO the transmission screams right past these points but under normal driving conditions this shure can be annoying. there are TSBs discribing this problem but i have not been able to find the fix. I'm sure it includes "new trq conv"
so screw them...more gas fixes everything!
Aquote from the TSB:
"Vehicles equipped w/ an aode or 4r70w trans has a concern of shudder from the transmission torque converter clutch in 3rd or 4th gear or during 3-4 shift."
