it's not that much cam, actually it's just about right for the split ports. My cam is alot of cam. I have a 224/230 cam.
quoted from roger of rpm-mustangs off of 3.8mustang.com's forum about another persons car....

"A 210/218 is a bit large for an '04, especially an auto,
if you want more info email me for a cam form and for
a small fee, I can spec a good cam and direct you to
where to get it."

he is the premier cam expert for v6 mustangs and if a 210 is too much for it for sure a 214 is...and stallion idk who told you that would be a good cam but you should contact roger and have him spec you a cam!!!!
So what makes this guy an expert over me? It's true a split port intake does not need as much cam timing, but my setup requires the extra duration.
1)your cam isnt being discussed
2)you have too much cam as well ...for a cam that big you need serious mods and idk what you have but your numbers dont show serious mods

My paper work must be at my shop, but I called my Bro and he said we had a 216/224 duration in the 99 with a .50/.52 lift. That V6 kicked a$$!!!

his #'s dont show serious mods??? 220 hp out of a 94-98 V6 shows quite a bit of mods since they were rated at 150 hp out of the factory...dont forget he also has a 4.2 stroker as his sig shows. Sorry to speak for ya stallion...im sure you can come explain it better than i can any ways.

a slit port swap...cam...(not that wild)....exhaust...udp....and cai are all that is needed to make 218 at the wheels! those are not serious mods.....split port swaqp may be in depth but if you already have a split port those number can be had by just a cam udp and exhaust....not impressive

editlus he also has a 4.2L you sure dont sound like you are sticking up for him since you help prove my point

on a 99+ 220 rwhp is bolt-ons, without a cam. pre-99s made around 130 rwhp stock. also what is the compression ratio on rob's car? if he is building it to be supercharged i would use low compression which would bring the power down. the pre-99s did not respond as well to mods as the split-port engines do.

Well since my car is the main topic at the moment. Yes I have a 4.2 that is still single port. I have serious mods. Pretty much everything that is physically possible with out a supercharger. I have two problem areas with my setup, 1) I need longtube headers, 2) I need a new intake manifold that is bigger. I'm building my own intake so that problem SHOULD be solved sometime in the next few months. And the longtubes will come in the summer. Most likely in August when the military gives me my annual bonus check. Fixing those 2 problems should definately net me some more hp. Also, I have 218rwhp, that's about 255-260bhp, stock was 150bhp, so I'm up about 105-110hp. I think that's very impressive on a single port. But hopefully with my new design I have stuck in my head, I'll be able to use a bigger TB, up to 70mm instead of 60mm and the upper with have a larger volume so then my intake won't be too small. Just watch my website or these boards for updates as I will start building it VERY soon.

That's a huge increase in HP's naturally asperated Rob. Plus your rear torque numbers ROCK! Most deffinitely go with a sheet metal intake on your car. That's the best way to go on a pre 99 V6. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Actually I think it's not going to be metal at all!! and it's not going to be a box intake either. its going to be a complete custom design. I've be doing tons of R&D at my own expense. I think my idea just might work. Now I need to buy the raw materials and make the stupid thing.
